Gas and electric fireplaces

Direct-vent gas stoves, inserts and electric fireplaces. Wood-gas models for anyone who wants both options in one unit.

Gas and electric are the set-and-forget end of the floor. No fuel to carry, thermostat or remote control, and instant off. Good for a room you avoid in winter, or for anyone who has decided they are done splitting rounds.

Direct-vent gas needs an exterior wall path. Electric needs a circuit and nothing else, which makes it the simplest retrofit in the shop.

Questions

About gas & electric

Will a gas fireplace heat the room or is it just for looks?

Both exist. Decorative gas logs put out modest heat; a direct-vent gas stove or insert is a real heater. Tell us which job you need done.

What does wood-gas mean?

A hybrid unit that can burn wood or run on gas, so you can choose depending on the day, the fuel you have and how much heat you want.
